RED BOOK COMPETITIONS START

Competitions for all departments of the 1920 Freshman Red Book start today. Art candidates should report to E. W. Pavenstedt, Jr., Gore A32, at 1.10 o'clock; candidates for copy and registration will report to D. C. Hawkins, Standish D22, at 7 o'clock. Business candidates should report to L. T. Lanman in Gore B34 at 6.45. Cuts and photograph candidates should report in Gore C43 at 7 o'clock.

The Red Book competitions as usual are to be run on a strict merit basis, credit being given both for quantity and quality of the work done. Thus industrious candidates of fair ability will have a chance to make the board.

The art department plans to introduce a new feature this year in the form of full-page drawings. All designs are to be humorous in character except the bookplate. The work of the photograph competition will consist of taking photographs of class teams and other organizations. It is not necessary for candidates to be expert photographers. The copy and registration candidates will have charge of the main makeup of the book, including class lives and membership in athletic and social organizations. The business candidates will gather subscriptions and advertisements and do a small amount of office work.
