Announcement has been made from the Diplomatic Service offices in Washington that one or two positions in the consular service in China are open to capable college men. The examinations for these positions will be held soon, and an excellent opportunity is made to men who wish to enter this branch of the Government service.
The men who are chosen will be assigned first to Peking, where they study Chinese for two years at a salary of $1,500 per annum and lodging. After this stage they become Vice-Consuls and proceed in the regular series of diplomatic promotions. Men interested in obtaining these positions should communicate with the Bureau of the Far East, Washington, D. C.
