Freshman hockey practice will begin in earnest this afternoon when the yearling players report at 2.30 o'clock at the Soldiers Field rinks. It is expected that L. M. Lombard '17 will be present to coach the 1923 men. Lombard, who is a former University player, had charge of the practice for a short time before vacation, and will probably coach the Freshmen throughout the season.
Although a few days of practice were held before the recess, serious work will be begun for the first time today. Candidates for all positions in the game may still report without being at a disadvantage. After some preliminary work teams will be chosen and scrimmages will take place in preparation for the first game of the Freshman season, which is scheduled for Saturday with Melrose High School.
