STANDISH WINS CHAMPIONSHIP IN INTERDORMITORY HOCKEY

Teams Handicapped by Lack of Ice--Four Games of Nine Scheduled Played--Standish Won Three of These Four

In the Freshman Interdormitory Hockey Series, held during the winter, Standish Hall has been awarded the championship. Out of the nine games scheduled, four were played. On January 19, Standish defeated Gore 3-2 in an overtime period; on January 20 Standish won from Smith 2-1 in another overtime game; on January 26 Standish defeated Smith 1-0.

The series was handicapped by poor ice at both the beginning and end of the hockey season; moreover, the interdormitory squads had to wait more than two weeks after the Freshman team got on the ice, in order to allow men who were cut from the first squad to participate in the interdormitory games. In spite of these setbacks, a great deal of interest was shown in the series, and the Department of Physical Education is looking forward to a more successful season next winter, now that interdormitory competition is firmly established.
