START JAVELIN AND DISCUS WORK FOR 1922 INTERCOLLEGIATE MEET

TO NAME MEN WHO WILL TRAIN FOR ENGLISH MEET SOON

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Practice for the discus throw and javelin throw, for members of both the University and 1924 track squads will start at 2.30 this afternoon in the Stadium. The I. C. A. A. A. A. decided during the winter that these two contests should be added to the list of events in the championship track and field meet, and Coach Bingham wishes to have the University men practicing now so that they may have as much opportunity as possible to prepare for next year's meet.

It is unlikely that these two events will be included in the dual meets with Yale and Princeton next spring, as the agreements under which these meets are held do not expire for another year, and no events can be added without permission of the management of both teams. Such work as is done now, therefore will be chiefly for the purpose of training men for the meets two years from now.

The list of men who are to report for practice this afternoon includes the following: J. E. Merrill '24, T. W. Norris '24, L. C. Keyes '24, Malcolm Morse '24, H. L. Kohn '24, A. W. Dole '24, H. W. Davis '24, B. T. Manning '24, C. H. Wansker '22, H. R. Davis '23, C. J. Hamlin Unc., G. T. Barker '23, Percy Jenkins '24, Benoni Lockwood '22.

It is probable that the list of men who are to train for the English meet will be announced some time this week. As far as possible, the men from Harvard and Yale who are to run in the meet will be chosen by mutual agreement, although it may be necessary to hold trials for one or two events. Training for the men will probably start on the Fourth of July, and not the week after commencement as previously announced.
