Today, the 87th anniversary of Phillips Brooks, will be commemorated by a special service, to be held at 7.30 o'clock in Peabody Hall, Phillips Brooks House. Two contemporaries of Bishop Brooks, the Right Reverend Charles L. Slattery '91, Bishop Coadjutor of Massachusetts, and the Reverend Professor Francis G. Peabody '69, will speak on Phillips Brooks as they remember him, the former as a student and the latter as a co-worker and, intimate friend.
The Reverend E. C. Moore, Chairman of the Board of Preachers, will conduct the services, and the University choir will lead in the singing of several of Phillips Brooks' favorite hymns, including "O Little Town of Bethlehem", which he himself wrote upon his return from a trip to the Holy Land.
After the services Phillips Brooks Room will be opened and many things belonging to the famous preacher will be put on exhibition.
