FRESHMAN GLEE CLUB TRIALS IN SMITH COMMON ROOM AT 7

Dr. A. T. Davison '06 to Assist in Selection of Men--Previous Experience Not Essential--Accompanists on Trial

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The trials for the Freshman Glee Club will be held at 7 o'clock this evening in the Smith Hall Common Room. As no previous singing experience is necessary, all men interested in music or singing are urged to report. Two accompanists will be chosen at these trials. Dr. A. T. Davison '06, director of the University Glee Club, will assist in the selection of the men. The number of men in the club is not limited, and will depend upon the quantity as well as the quality of material on hand.

At the trials tonight men will be asked to sing several scales, but no solo will be required. Candidates for the position of accompanist will play one piece of any kind which they may select and also a piece at sight.

Rehearsals will start in a few days and will continue once a week until the end of May. These rehearsals, which will never last over an hour, will occasionally be held under the supervision of Dr. Davison, but as a rule they will be directed by a Freshman leader, chosen in a competition which will begin in two or three weeks. A Freshman quartet will also be selected during the next few weeks. Several concerts have been arranged for the club, the last of which will come at the Freshman Jubilee on May 30.

The first meetings of the hall choruses will be on Wednesday evening at 7 o'clock in the various common-rooms. Upper classmen have been chosen to lead the choruses until Freshman leaders are selected. The prize at the Jubilee will be awarded with regard to the proportion of men attending the rehearsals as well as on the quality of the singing
