HUPD Chief Says Harvard Yard Encampment is Peaceful, Defends Students’ Right to Protest
As the Freshman class failed to cast the quota of votes necessary for the election of officers, the voting will be continued in the Standish Hall Common Room this afternoon from 12 until 6 o'clock. According to Article III, Section 10, in the constitution of the three lower classes, 60 percent of more of the members of the class must-vote before an election of class officers is declared valid. Yesterday only 449 men voted whereas 522 are needed to give the desired quota.
The counting committee, consisting of H. A. LaFarge '24, Chairman, A. C. Bickford '24, C. C. Colt '24, F. S. Hill '24, F. A. O. Schwarz '24, and J. H. Sherburne Jr.'24 will meet at 7 o'clock this evening in the Randolph Breakfast Room. It is essential that all of these men be on time as the work is of the utmost importance.
The Student Council Committee of Freshman Affairs has appointed the following Sophomores to watch at the polls today:

12-1.--R. G. Norris, C. J. Hubbard Jr.
1-2.--Harry Eldridge, John Begg.
2-3.--P. S. Sprague, J. T. Baldwin.
3-4.--Corliss Lamont, L. R. Nichols.
4-5.--T. P. Mandell, G. R. Perera.
5-6.--H. C. Lodge Jr., A. W. Paine.
The above men are responsible for their assigned period, and if unable to serve at the time indicated must get a substitute to take his place. The men assigned to the first hour will find the ballots and the ballot box in the Standish Hall Common Room.
