This evening the University debating team will meet the University of Pittsburg at Pittsburg in the annual winter debate. This is the first time a University team has ever met Pittsburg in debate, although a proposal was made by Pittsburg last year. The University will take the negative of the question, "Resolved: That the United states should enter into an immediate agreement with the former Allied nations for the mutual cancellation of Interallied indebtedness".
C. A. Zinn '25, H. P. Sharp '25, R. S. Fanning '23, and S. L. Tait '23 will compose the University team the last-named as alternate. After a period of intensive training the team left for Pittsburg yesterday afternoon. An effective case has been worked up under the direction of the coach, C. H. Whelden 1G., and tutor in the Division of History, Government, and Economics: The same question constituted the subject of the University debates last year with the University of Syracuse and Ohio Wesleyan.
The team has done well this year having defeated the University of Oxford early in the fall. the debate tonight will be the last contest before the annual Harvard-Yale-Princeton triangular debate which will take place sometime in March.
