The Freshman basketball team will attempt to uphold its record of victories when it faces the Springfield College first-year men at 3 o'clock this afternoon in the Freshman Gymnasium. J. A. Reed is still out of the line-up although there is a chance that he may be able to play within two weeks; his place will be taken by Endicott.
Coach Chase has stressed defensive work since the game with the Tufts freshmen last Tuesday. Short passing and short shooting have been the features of the scrimmage. Smith, whose work last Tuesday was especially satisfactory, will shoot the fouls this afternoon. A. E. Reed, whose recent improvement has been remarkable, is a bulwark on the defense.
Springfield College has played only three teams, none of which have been met by the Crimson men. Le Bleu is outstanding and will probably shoot the fouls. In a game with Williston Seminary he succeeded in scoring on ten out of fourteen free tries.
