LAX DEFENSE HELPS TORONTO WIN 4 TO 1

Captain Hudson and Wright Both Use Around-the-Cage Route Successfully--Former Tallies Alone, Latter Passes

Harvard's checking back by the forward line was fair enough Saturday night, but in the last ditch defence about the goal the Crimson let through several of the scores which alertness would have stopped in Toronto's 4 to 1 victory Saturday night.

Granting that the first Canadian score was all in the day's work, it appeared that Hudson was far from adequately covered when he made the second score on a pass from Harris. He was hardly hurried in making his shot from the right boards.

The other two Toronto tallies were the result of speedy skating on the part of the visitors and lax covering up by the Crimson players around their goal. Thus when the Canadian captain skated around the Harvard net and made a back hand flip into the net, Newell was the only one to raise a hand against him, for the University defence was lined up a few feet in front of the cage, waiting to intercept the pass that didn't come.

The last goal was also made by the around-the-goal route, and this time the expected pass materialized. The men in front of the net, however, were neither able to spoil Wright's gift, or to block the scoring shot which Westman drove between their legs.

The summary: HARVARD  TORONTO Walker, Austin, Hill, r.w.  r.w., Westman, Wright Hodder, Gardner, Harding, c.  c., Hudson, Wright Beals, Hill, Howe, r.w.  l.w., Wright, Greery Chase, Hammond, l.d.  r.d., Harris Crosby, Hammond, r.d.  l.d., Mc Leod, Wright Newell, g.  g., Thompson
