At 10 o'clock this morning the Lampoon Board will perform the sacred rite of planting the 25-foot American elm in front of its building.
Yesterday a part of the brick sidewalk at the corner of Mt. Auburn and Bow Streets was removed and a space prepared for the Lampoon offshoot.
Though no official announcement has been made, it is understood that the ceremony will be deeply impressive.
A Lampoon candidate, when questioned on the subject last night, stated that Mayor Quinn, of Cambridge, would be present at the planting, and that a band would assemble and play several tunes.
After the elm is planted, it will be surrounded by an iron picket fence as a means of protection.
