In the semi-finals of the interclass debate series last night, the opponents of limitation of enrolment in the University were successful in both case. A quartet of negative Freshman speakers defeated their fellow classmen on the affirmative, while the Sophomores were victorious over the Seniors.
The question debated was: "Resolved: "That enrolment should be limited by raising the standards of the present system of competitive entrance examinations." The winning Freshman team was, composed of C. H. Johnston, L. S. King, D. L. Dickson, and W. D. Morton, while the losers were D. W. Chapman, J. R. Cherry, L. J. Fain, and F. J. Otis.
On the Sophomore team, C. C. Craig, T. E. Finley, A. G. King, and W. C. McFerron, were the speakers. The Senior team composed of W. T. Howe, J. S. Kaufman, R. M. Merrison, and A. C. Poletti
These teams will meet in the finals tomorrow. It was announced that the trials for the University triangular teams which were to have been held on that date, have been postponed until Friday evening.
