4 CRIMSON COMPETITIONS GET UNDER WAY TONIGHT

1925 HAS LAST AND 1927 FIRST CHANCE TO MAKE PAPER

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

This evening at 7 o'clock there will be a meeting in the Crimson Building, 14 Plympton Street, for prospective candidates for the news, business, photographic, and editorial departments of the CRIMSON. The actual work in these competitions will begin tomorrow evening and will continue for 11 weeks.

The president of the CRIMSON and the various departmental heads will explain the details of the work. All men interested in the paper are invited to attend this preliminary meeting whether or not they plan to enter the competition.

The business and news competitions are open to Freshmen only and offer members of the first-year class their first opportunity to make the CRIMSON board. Business candidates are required to solicit advertisements and do routine office work. They learn the details of the advertising business and make the acquaintance of prominent business men in Boston and elsewhere. News candidates act as reporters--the men who gather and write the news for each issue. Through interviews they often meet men and women of national prominence, and in the course of their regular duties they broaden their acquaintance with undergraduate leaders.

The photographic competition is open to Sophomores and Freshmen. It demands no photographic experience and the possession of a camera is not necessary. This is the final opportunity for Sophomores to make any but the editorial board of the paper.

Juniors only may compete in the editorial competition, the work of which consists solely of writing editorials. As in the other competitions, no previous experience is necessary.
