VICTORY OVER ARMY MAY LEAD TO FENCING TITLE

E. H. LANE '24 WINS ALL THREE OF HIS MATCHES

Harvard's hopes of victory in the intercollegiate fencing tournament on April 3 were boosted considerably at West Point Saturday afternoon, when the University fencing team took a closely fought match from the Army swordsmen. The final score was Harvard 7, Army 6.

The match was especially important, both because the cadet team defeated the University last year, and because it ranks very high in the race for the intercollegiate title. Harvard thus remains one of the few colleges which have yet to taste defeat in both Fencing Leagues.

The Crimson fencers excelled with the foils, getting five victories to four for the Army. This slight advantage gave them the victory, for the teams tied at 2-all in the epee events.
