CRIMSON FOILSMEN SECOND TO YALE IN FENCING FINALS

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

New York, April 2.--In the finals of the intercollegiate fencing tournament, which were held here this afternoon and evening, Harvard placed second to Yale in the team scores. Although the Harvard team has been considered strong this season, its showing today was unexpectedly good. After the epee team had been eliminated by M. I. T. in the matches yesterday, the foils team staged a great Crimson comeback to win from all its rivals except Yale.

The record of the University foilsmen is as follows: Harvard won from the Navy, 5 to 4; from Cornell, 5 to 3; from the Army, 5 to 4; from Columbia, 5 to 4; and in the final meet lost to Yale, 5 to 3. The Crimson victory over Columbia was especially an upset, since Columbia had previously been triumphant in a dual meet between the two universities.

The members of the Harvard team were Captain A. G. Carrillo '26, A. R. Allen '26, and Howard Finney '26.
