Robert Palmer Outerbridge '28, of Superior, Wis., was elected captain of the 1927 fencing team at a meeting of the letter men immediately after the intercollegiate bouts in New York. Outerbridge was captain of his Freshman team last year, and has fenced on the epee team this year. Next year he intends to fence on both the epee and folls teams.
An innovation in Harvard fencing is planned next season with the formation of a sabre team. In the New England division of the intercollegiates Yale and Dartmouth were the only colleges that had sabre teams, and it is felt that the University ought to be able to furnish them opposition in this branch of fencing as well as in the others.
With most of this year's regulars being graduated in June, the 1927 fencing team will have to rely largely on this year's Freshman team and several men who were substitutes on the University team.
