BASKETBALL TEAM TOPS UNIVERSITY OF VERMONT

Crimson is Victorious by 32-28 Count--Freshman Quintet Win Over Brown 1930, 41-38

Both Harvard quintets scored wins over powerful opponents yesterday when the University five topped Vermont 32 to 28, and the Freshman hoopmen beat the Brown 1930 aggregation 41 to 38.

In the University game Vermont lead in the first minutes of play, but the Harvard quintet rallied and the half ended with Harvard leading 17 to 11.

In the next half the play tightened up, and Vermont evened up the score with a series of fast plays. During the last 5 minutes of the action, it was anybody's game with Harvard leading, but never by more than one or two points. The dramatic moment came when Bailey replaced Dorn at right forward and made two goals from the field, the last one after a pass the whole length of the court, which Bailey netted with a pass over his back in the shadow of the basket. Green at centre and Malick at right guard also starred for the Crimson. The Harvard defense was much stronger than it has been for several games.

The Freshman game was even harder fought than the University struggle. The end of the first half saw Harvard leading at 21 to 20. During most of the second half, the Freshmen retained a slight lead, which never exceeded four points.
