NEW ORCHESTRA FORMED TO SUPPLY EMPLOYMENT

A new orchestra has been formed among undergraduates of the University by several members of the Freshman class and one or two upperclassmen with the authorization of the Employment Bureau. The new organization is to be known as the "Freshman Players", and will start its career with a series of four concerts to be given in each of the four Freshmen met while in the waiting room of the Student Employment Office and discovering a mutual musical experience decided to secure financial aid by the formation of an orchestra.

Daly Approves Organization

W. W. Daly '14, Secretary for Student Employment approved of the plan, the upperclassmen were added to the group and a test rehearsal was held with assistant and Professor Edward Ballantine 07 of the Music Department acting as advisor. Besides the preliminary series of four Freshman concerts, plans are being made to obtain engagements for the "Freshman Players" at various gatherings in the University and meetings of societies and clubs in Boston.

First Concert in Standish

The first concert will be held in Standish Ball this Wednesday from 6.30 to 7.30 O'clock in the Common Room. It will be conducted informally so that the residents of the hall may feel at liberty to enter or leave the Common Room between the numbers.

The three other concerts will take place at the different Freshman dormitories in the following order: McKinlock Hall on October 24, Gore Hall on October 31, and Smith Halls on November 7.

For the present the orchestra will be composed of a plano, first and second dolin, 'cello, double bass, and clarinet.
