"TOC H" CHAPLAIN WILL SPEAK IN PEABODY HALL

Lecture Is Under Auspices of Phillips Brooks House--To Be Held Monday at 8 O'clock

The Reverend H. F. Sawbridge M.C., full time padre of the "Toc H", will be the main speaker at a meeting to be held next Monday evening at 8 o'clock in Peabody Hall under the suspices of the Phillips Brooks House.

"Toc H" stands for "Talbot House", a society formed in memory of the son to Bishop Talbot, an English church dignitary. The society was organized in England during the war with much the same idea as the Y. M. C. A., except that its chief aims were largely religious as opposed to the more functional activities of the American organization. The "Toc H" has gradually branched out until it has now world-wide proportions.

The name "Toc H" has an interesting and rather odd origin. During the War, when it was necessary to signal the name "Talbot", it was found difficult to make it or "Tal" understood "Toc", which has a more definite and sharp sound, was used as the solution of the problem The name has remained, and is that by which the society is known the world over.

Dr. Sawbridge is the chaplain of the society and therefore well qualified to discuss its aims and accomplishments The meeting will also be addressed by J. P. Hubbard '26, a leader of the Boston group of "Toc H" The subject of the talks will be. The Arms and Idea of the Organization and the meeting will be open to the University.
