RED AND BLUE NINE TOPS UNIVERSITY IN 7 TO 3 WIN

QUAKER SUPREMACY THREATENED IN SIXTH FRAME RALLY

Before a capacity crowd, including 2,000 University graduates attending the Associated Harvard Clubs meeting at Philadelphia, the Pennsylvania nine displayed its best brand of play this season, repeated its triumphs of last year over the Crimson aggregation Saturday afternoon, downing it by a 7 to 3 count. Raymond Walker hurled well for the Red and Blue, limiting the opposing batters to nine scattered hits, fanning eight.

Trailing at the short end of a 3 to 1 score in the sixth inning, Harvard rallied to knot the count when singles by J. P. Chase '28, W. W. Lord '28, and John Prior '29, an error, and a sacrifice netted a pair of tallies. Pennsylvania came back in the next frame, however, assuming a two run lead on a single by Allen Walker, after F. B. Cutts '28 had filled the bases with three walks. Two more Red and Blue players crossed the plate in the eighth, giving their team a safe margin of victory.

J. N. Barbee '28 started in the box for the Crimson, but a sore arm hampered his delivery and Coach F. G. Mitchell had to send in Cutts for the last four innings.

F. E. Nugent '30, who has been shifted about considerably during his short periods of service, was given his first chance at covering the hot corner at third base. He performed well, accepting five chances without an error. PENNSYLVAXIA   a.b.  r.  h.  p.o.  a.  e.
