Walter S. Gifford '05, President of the American Telephone and Telegraph Company, has been elected Chief Marshal from the class of 1905 to lead the Harvard alumni at Commencement next June. His election was announced after the January meeting of the directors of the Harvard Alumni Association.
Mr. Gifford is a trustee of Johns Hopkins University and is chairman of the executive committee of the Charity Organization Society of New York. In addition to his work as a director of the Alumni Association he has served Harvard by membership on the visiting committees of the Graduate School of Business Administration and the Departments of Economics and Physics.
