Devens on Mound as Crimson Is Host to Strong Syracuse Nine

Mitchellmen Have Run Winning Streak to Four Games--B. C. Lost to Syracuse Yesterday

Having run up a brief winning streak of four games at the expense of a quartet of New England college teams Harvard's baseball nine will take the field against heavy artillery for the first time since the Spring trip this afternoon when the Syracuse team comes to Soldiers Field for the first tilt of its two game series with the Crimson. Umpire Barry will call play at 3 o'clock.

The game will he the eleventh of the season for the Crimson nine and Coach Mitchell's men will be trying for their seventh victory. They are coming up against a team, however, that has no mean record for the season and has already defeated Columbia, the aggregation that nosed out Harvard, 2 to 1, on the closing day of the Spring trip. Syracuse batted out an 8 to 3 win over B. C. yesterday.

Devens is Coach Mitchell's probable choice for pitching duty today and the Sophomore fast ball artist will be caught by Fincke, who was his battery mate in the Freshman nine last year. Fincke is in there because Batchelder, regular catcher, suffered an injury in the Colby game, on Tuesday, that will keep him out for another week. Devens is after his fourth victory.
