Red Top, Conn., June 13--Rough water hampered the Harvard crews as they entered upon the last week of preparation for the annual regatta with Yale on the Thames on Friday, June 20. Coach Whiteside took the first and second University crews downstream for two miles in the morning workout. The eights appeared to be in fine form as they worked on practice starts and in boosting the stroke for short sprints.

During the afternoon row, the crews continued their work on racing starts and varied strokes. They went downstream three and one half miles but stopped short of the railway bridge.

1933 Follow Same Program

The Freshman and combination eights, under the direction of Coach Haines, followed much the same program for both the morning and afternoon practice periods. The Freshman eight appears to have retained the power and smoothness which so impressed the onlookers at the races on the Charles River Basin in Cambridge earlier this spring.

Photographers from Notman's Studio in Cambridge were present at the camp today to take pictures of the eights. The "Gypsy", owned by Robert F. Herrick of Boston, one of Harvard's most constant crew followers, arrived at the pier today after being fog bound at Wareham for the past few days. Last year the oarsmen went out on the power yacht several afternoon during race week, and it is expected tht brief excursions will be held next week.

The waiters crew is preparing with their borrowed Yale oars for their annual skirmish with the Eli tray-handlers on the upper stretches of the Thames next Wednesday or Thursday afternoon. So far as is known, there has been no challenge made or accepted as yet, but crew devotees are confident that the traditional affair will take place.
