GREEN IS DOUBLE WINNER IN TRACK MEET YESTERDAY

Rosen of Law School Barely Edges Out H. S. Derrickson '35--C. E. Reiche '37 Takes High Jump

In spite of a muddy track and a cold adverse wind there were several noteworthy performances to top off the annual fall University handicap meet yesterday afternoon. Milton G. Green '36 was the only double winner, cavorting over the high sticks in an elapsed time of but 15 3-5 seconds and likewise winning the 220 low hurdles in 25 3-5 seconds. Richard C. Hayes '36 placed second in both these barrier races.

F. Garrison '37 captured the Century from Edwin E. Calvin '35, sprinter on last year's Varsity. The time was 9 4-5 seconds, which is somewhat discounted by the handicap of the winner. In the longer distance races John E. Rogerson '34 gathered the laurels in the 300-yard run, while Gerald P. Rosen 1L won the 880-yard run by a hairline from Howard S. Derrickson '35, providing the one close stirring race of the afternoon.

In the field events, C. E. Reiche '37 won honors in the high jump, with a leap of 5 feet, 10 inches. As for the pole vault, Albert K. Barcewicz '36 cleared the marker at a height of 12 feet, 9 inches, while Oscar Sutermeister sS.A. trailed.

The meet as a whole will give at least a tentative aspect of the material for the winter track season, and likewise it provides a workable foundation for the Freshman team, both of which will receive serious concentration upon the conclusion of the cross country season.

100 Yard Dash--Won by Garrison; second, Calvin; third, C. Thieriot '37. Time--9 4-5 seconds.

300 Yard Run--Won by Rogerson; second, G. R. Abell '35; third, J. W. Fobes 2L. Time--32 1-5 seconds.

880 Yard Run--Won by Rosen; second, Derrickson; third, Walter O'Connor '36. Time--1 min., 58 4-5 sec.

120 Yard High Hurdles--Won by Green; second, Hayes; third, J. Crawford '36. Time--15 3-5 seconds.

220 Yard Low Hurdles--Won by Green; second, Hayes; third, David C. Crawford '36. Time--25 3-5 sec.

High Jump--Won by Reiche; second, Luther Scheffy '35; third, A. H. Weed '36. Height--5 feet, 10 inches.

Pole Vault--Won by Barcewicz; second, Sutermeister; third, George T. Skinner '36. Height--12 feet, 9 inches.
