BASKETBALL TEAM SCORES 36-22 WIN OVER TIGER FIVE

Forward Leads Crimson Assault With Tight Points--Lowman Is Runner-Up With Seven

Continuing their nip-and-tuck struggle for second place in the Eastern Intercollegiate league the Varsity basketball team bounced back from a defeat by Dartmouth to conquer a fighting Princeton five 36-22 at the Indoor Athletic Building last Saturday evening.

Ahead from the opening whistle, the Crimson hoopsters limited the Tigers to one field goal for the first period and seven for the entire game. Two redheaded forwards, Leavy White and George Lowman, led the Varsity attack.

White, switched by Coach Wes Fesler from guard to forward for this game, lived up to expectations by sinking four baskets for a total of eight points, and Lowman, who is leading the league in scoring, contributed three field goals and a foul for seven points.

With the Tigers repeatedly missing cut-in shots and decidedly off in their long distance marksmanship, the Crimson piled up a first half lead and managed to maintain it through a fast and rugged second half.

The widely heralded Princeton zone defense was completely shattered by the cool and accurate passing of the Harvard team, and when the Tiger five succeeded in running the ball down the court, their attack was checked with such vigour as to frequently leave several players sprawling on the floor. Struck and McGowan were especially effective in breaking up plays right under the basket.

Fesler Uses 15 Men

Sending in a steady stream of substitutes towards the closing minutes of the contest, Coach Fesler used 15 men in all. Princeton managed to work 11 players into the game. Leading their scorers was Walter Woodward, bespectacled guard who dropped in two field goals and eight fouls for a total of eight points.
