Revealing that the staff under his direction had in the course of the past year done everything from arranging chamber music concerts to serving "as technical operators and consultants" to the W. P. E. Adward W. Forben '95, Director of the William Hayes Fogg Art Museum on Saturday released his Annual Report to the President.
The list of gifts and bequests acknowledged in the report reveal the museum to be an outstanding art center. The only painting in the country by the famous impressionist, Bazille, was given the museum by his relatives. Other outstanding gifts included a Benin bronzebust from Mrs.John D.Rockefeller Jr., a group of bronze statuettes from Grenville L. Winthrop '86, and a number of Sargent's sketch books and portfolios from the artist's sister, Mrs.Francis Ormond.
Among the activities of the staff, apart from simple curating, were listed chemical research in paints and pigments, conservation, arranging 29 exhibits and borrowing works to supplement the museum's collections, procuring guest lecturers, and publishing the findings of historical research in the field of art.
Having occupied the present building for ten years, the administration of the museum has decided on a few minor changes. These will include relighting and shifting the Persian Collection.
