In the first heat Eliot creased the finish line nearly four lengths out in front of Dunster, finishing in 9:05 in very rough water. Adams finished nearly a length behind the Funsters.

Stroked by Ralph Cutler, the Puritans rowed the improved stretch in 8:36, as Kirkland trailed by two and a half lengths. Leverett best out Lowell for third place.

Finals for second crews as well as the first will be held this afternoon. Yesterday's consolation race for first crews which failed to qualify for the finals Tuesday was called off when the boats didn't show up.

Eliot, Kirkland, Lowell, and Leverett crews will fight it out for first place in the finals of the House crew races this afternoon.
