Batonnetters Register In Person for Contest

With a total of 63 entries in the contest to pick a Harvard drum-majorette, the CRIMSON last night was besieged by a flock of high school baton virtuosos who appeared to register in person, accompanied by mothers, aunts, and second cousins.

One of the late entries was Betsy Waffie of Charlestown, who plans to "put the Waffie on the Harvard gridiron." The seventeen-year-old world's champion batonnetter came dressed in a royal blue marching uniform, and carrying her pet one pound and ten ounce brass baton.

Observers last night predicted that Miss Waffle, and Eunice Martin, striking redhead from Waltham, would finish "neck and neck" in the competition.

The winner of the contest will be crowned "Miss Harvard" in front of the John Harvard statue in the Yard. "John will cast his approving eyes on the most beautiful woman ever seen in Cambridge," say the editors.
