On the plea that "the Jewish issue is too pressing for mere political puttering," the Independents announced last night that they would hold a rally on Wednesday to support the British plan to find homes for refugee children in Palestine.
With the Affiliated Jewish Youth Organization of Greater Boston solidly behind the student forum, the political group said that among their speakers they would feature the wrestler Gus Sonnenberg and the actress, Dorothy Stone.
Must Deal With Crisis
"Now is the time to deal with the sufferings and the crisis of the Jewish race. Too much emotion has been wasted and vented on empty gestures. The Independents want to lead the way toward examining the problem impartially and setting it internationally.
"To Great Britain, the leading international power, therefore, the Independents give support for a plan to return the Jews to their homeland."
The committee in charge said last night that the meeting would probably be held in Emerson Hall Wednesday evening. "We want to stress," it stated, "that the issue is too urgent to be seized upon as an instrument of propaganda. Harvard students may show their support in an effective way."
