FRESHMEN HEAR HEAD COACHES OF ATHLETICS

Holcombe, Emerson Speak Tonight on America's War Problems; Hanford Is Chairman

Physical education for the Freshmen started yesterday with a preliminary meeting at New Lecture Hall at which the Yardlings signed up for fall sports.

Speakers at the meeting included William J. Bingham '16, Director of Athletics; Dick Harlow, football coach; Hal Ulen, coach of the swimming team; and Tom Bolles, crew mentor.

Chief item on the Freshman calendar today, after the opening of classes, is a meeting at the Union this evening on "America Faces the Second World War."

Dean Hanford will preside over the gathering which will be addressed by Arthur N. Holcombe, professor of Government, on pending legislation; and by Rupert Emerson, assistant professor of Government, on the course of the war during the summer. The meeting is sponsored by the Harvard Student Union.
