NLRB to Question Officials

By United Press

WASHINGTON--The Smith NLRB Investigating Committee today issued subpoenas for four top-ranking government officials to appear for questioning tomorrow as a Congressional drive began to overturn an administrative ruling which would deny defense contracts to firms violating federal labor laws.

Those summoned are Attorney General Robert H. Jackson, Secretary of the Navy Frank Knox, Assistant Secretary of War Robert Patterson, and Sidney Hillman, the Defense Commission's labor coordinator and C. I. O. Vice-President.

Congressional criticism of the ruling centered about Jackson's opinion that defense contracts should be withheld even though the firm might have a judicial appeal pending.
