Ford, Madey Get 2nd in VFW Vault; Bunker Dittos in Jump

Trainer, Donahue, Houghton Are Fifth in Dash, Hurdles, and 1000-Yd

Sophomore Mitch Ford paced Crimson entrants in the V. F. W. track meet in the Boston Garden Saturday night by coming away with a tie for second with Steve Madey '40 in the pole vault. Ford and Madey cleared 13 feet, but loat to a 13 feet three inch effort by Perkins of the Observation Squadron.

John Bunker did six feet in the high jump, gaining a three-way tie for second with Forte of Rhode Island and Mage of the Boston Y.M.C.A. Another Sophomore, Bill Trainer, won his way into the finals of the New England A.A.U. 50-yard dash, placing fifth in the final heat.

Captain Don Donahue qualified for the finals of the 45-yard invitational hurdles but found the competition too keen and had to be content with a fifth. Bob Houghton was another fifth place winner for Harvard in the 1000 yard run.
