Sharpshooters from Yale avenged a defeat of a year's standing when they vanquished the Crimson in shoulder to shoulder matches on Saturday in Memorial Hall.
The Elis knocked the Varsity down a rung in league standings, from fourth to fifth place, by hanging a 1364 score over a 1346, and at the same time trounced the Yardlings, 1338 to 1192.
Yale Captain John McCain was high man for the Blue with 275. He topped his Crimson counterpart, Lawrence Shaul '43, by two points.
Although 1346 is high score of the year for the Varsity, the rifle team thinks it has a good chance in the forthcoming all-league encounter scheduled for the twenty-ninth in New Haven. The Crimson won this meet last year.
