Arthur J. Marder, a leading naval historian who is doing research here, emphasized the seriousness of ship-sinkings in the Atlantic at a meeting in the Arlington Town Hall last night.

On the basis of Marder's speech advocating convoys to solve the problem, Warren A. Seavey '01, Bussey Professor of Law, and temporary chairman of the Arlington Committee to Defend America, submitted a petition to be sent to President Roosevelt.

Petition Signed

Signed by many of those present, the petition reaffirmed the belief that the "defeat of the Axis is essential to our way of life," and added that "the next step should be the assurance that whatever aid we can supply will be delivered to those who need it."
