Eight members of the Varsity cross-country team have been practising all week in the hills of Middlesex Fells in anticipation of the opening of Harvard's fall track season next Tuesday. Coach Jaakko Mikkola has called his initial meeting for Varsity and Freshman candidates alike for Tuesday afternoon at 3:15 o'clock in Dillon Field House and expects a turnout of more than fifty aspirants.
With only two weeks in which to train for one of the heaviest cross-country schedules in many years, Mikkola has to find replacements for the five letter men who graduated last June. Captain Kay Rogers, Bob Jay, Johnny Sopka, and Joe Scott are the returning Varsity lettermen.
