Ford's Second Place in IC4A Scores Only Crimson Points

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Breaking his own recent record for the Harvard pole vault, Mike Ford cleared 13 feet 11 3.4 inches Saturday night to take second place at the national indoor IC4A meet in Madison Square Garden. Ford came in behind Richmond Morcum, double winner from New Hampshire University, who vaulted 14 feet 4 1/4 inches to set a new meet record.

The second won by Ford gave Harvard its only four points and a tie for eighteenth place with St. John's in team standings. The only other Crimson entry in the meet, Tom White in the 35-pound weight, failed to place.

Morcum, who has the distinction of being the only 14 point winner in the meet's history and probably the only man who completed with just one tract shoe, also took a first in the high jump and a second in the broad jump.
