The History and Literature Prize of $50.00 given by an anonymous donor is awarded each year to the Junior who, in the opinion of the Committee, shows the greatest progress among the men concentrating in this field. This year the prize has been divided between Robert S. Schwantes of Lancaster, Wisconsin and Lowell House, and Richard J. Hyman of Malden.
The Barrett Wendell Prize in memory of Professor Barrett Wendell '77, the first chairman of the Committee, is awarded each year to that member of the Sophomore class in this field who has made the most notable progress during the year. The prize this year has been awarded to Roy M. Millen of Coin, Iowa and Eliot House.
