Featuring an effort to replace the present competitive bidding for college students between the different military services by a systematic, cooperative enlistment program, a new plan for enlistment of college students was announced yesterday in Boston at a meeting of representatives of 150 New England colleges.
The result of a newly-created joint board of all military branches, the plans called for an enlisted reserve in each division of the service, including the Air Force.
In addition, it was announced that all these branches will be represented whenever a talk on service opportunities is made at any college. Assurances were given that the new plan will increase the reserve quotas of the colleges.
Full details of the program will be released in a pamphlet which will be jointly prepared by the services and distributed to every student in September.
