Lightning Sets Off, Police Stop Alarm in Lampoon

By O. E. Zweneus

Quietly the Jester fell out of the Sanctum, as he heard a piercing shriek and a loud ringing noise from the next room.

"It's a shame and it's a accident," said the Blot, stumbling down the circular staircase, to the accompaniment of peals of thunder. It was getting darker now. In fact, it was getting so dark you would have thought it was last Wednesday night. Which it was, strangely enough.

"You're wrong, Blot," said the Jester, watching the flames lick up a Good Humor. "That's only the burglar alarm in Roger Kent's. The lightning must have set it off in some manner or other. It's pretty damn seldom what happens around here, and I'm the man who can do it."

"All right," said the Blot, "and here come the police to shut it off. It's a no good dead burglar alarm; let's go bury it up."
