Dodds to Run Cross Country In Meet Here Tomorrow

Sports fans on the south bank of the Charles River at 2 o'clock tomorrow will have the opportunity to see one of America's fastest humans compete with collegiate runners as Gil Dodds brings an informal Gordon Seminary quartet into the triangular Harvard - Tufts - Coast Guard cross country meet.

Dodds, who has run a 4:06.1 mile for the fastest citizen's time officially recorded, recently requested permission to enter the 3.7 mile Handicap Course event in order to practice for coming mile contests.

This will be the second time since the beginning of the summer that he has raced on Crimson territory, as he is remembered nationally for having come in as a close second to Gunder Haogg in the latter's Soldiers Field triumph last July.

The second surprise announcement to come from Coach Jaako Mikkola is that he has received an invitation to enter relay teams in the February 5 Millrose Games at Madison Square Garden.

Sponsored annually by the Millrose A. C. of New York City, these races are held between collegiate and amateur one and two mile relay outfits.

In order to have sufficient working material to form these teams, and to carry out the winter's work in preparation for spring running, Mikkola requests that all men interested in the sport report to him as soon as possible.
