HUPD Chief Says Harvard Yard Encampment is Peaceful, Defends Students’ Right to Protest
At the first meeting of representatives of about 50 Eastern colleges, Eli Yale indicated Wednesday a policy that may bring her into line with Harvard's athletic program announced last spring. At the closed meetings sponsored by the Central Office for Eastern Intercollegiate Athletics, Harvard was not represented.
Yale, while announcing participation in some sports, is withdrawing from regular League competition. The Blue will not join Columbia, Cornell, Dartmouth, Penn and Princeton in the Eastern Intercollegiate Baseball League; but she will field a team that will play some League oppon- ents.
The tennis association, now comprised of Penn, Cornell, Columbia, and Princeton, will not include Yale either. Carroll as president of the tennis association by F. Getchell of Harvard has been replaced Col. Lawrence (Biff) Jones.
Army, Dartmouth, and Yale will have hockey teams this season, but Pentagonal League competition has been suspended. Only Columbia, Cornell, M. I. T. and Navy have definite rowing plans this year, with both Harvard and Yale out of the picture
