Emergency Lights Installed By Maintenance Workers

Searchlights are being installed in the dining halls and corridors of several of the Houses, the Harvard University Maintenance Department office revealed yesterday, in a move to insure adequate lighting in case of emergency.

The new lights, which are powerful lamps of the reflector type, have already been placed in the Eliot House dining hall, and the Maintenance Department is planning to extend the innovation to all of the Houses. The lights are connected by a special circuit to the regular illuminating system of each room in which they are installed, and an automatic switch throws the emergency system as soon as the regular circuit for any reason fails.
