Quintet Gains First Win, 52-47

B Team Also Downs M.I.T. in Close Game

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Dormant since its opening game last December, the Crimson finally came to life and turned on a hapless M.I.T. five Friday night to hang up its initial triumph of the campaign, 52 to 47. Earlier in the evening, the B team had outfought the Engineers in registering the season's fourth win, 30 to 25.

Accurate foul shooting on the part of Coach Floyd Stahl's quintet proved the margin of victory. After seeing three games slip away from his charges as they failed to capitalize on their free throws, Stahl had his entire squad practicing from the foul line during the week. His efforts bore fruit, for 12 of 14 attempts went through the hoop.

Clark High Scorer

Starter at the left forward position, Clark was high scorer for the victors, as seven field goals and a free throw netted him 15 points.

Before the contest got under way, Stahl's squad elected center Mike Keene as captain for the remainder of this season. In his first year at the College Keene starred for the Freshman team. Returning from a stint in the army with a medical discharge, Keene is the only civilian in the starting lineup.

The second team broke a 14 to 14 half-time tie to ring up the win. Left forward Boyce led the winners with ten markers, while Francke and Flynn, at center and the other forward registered seven and six respectively. The B team will not be with the Varsity when it travels to Melville, Rhode Island, to meet the Metor Torpedo Boat S.T.C. tomorrow.
