Whether it be feeding rats, rigging booby traps for Halloween prowlers, or just plain clerical work, the Employment office in Weld Hall has a student who can do the job.
It wasn't the unusual or the unique however which attracted the greatest number of position applicants last year but the job of keeping more than 667 Cambridge and Boston small-fry quiet during the evening. Most profitable "job" was blood donations which netted $13,150 last year.
Besides running an employment bureau the office operates a small talent factory with an assemblage of prestidigitators, ventriliquists, and puppeteers all on tap for banquets and parties. If an orchestra is needed or a barber shop quartet, the office can fill the need.
Widely traveled students are ready to deliver lectures on almost any subject, ranging from Egyptian mummies to popular science and the world's scenic attractions.
Among the jobs listed as references one student told of laying a fool-proof system of trip wires on the grounds of a Brattle Street home for an old lady who was tired of losing her front gate every Halloween to Cambridge youngsters.
