Graduate Council Hits Plaque Plan

Qualified support of the Student Council's "anti Plaque" platform came last night from the 21-member Graduate Council which passed unanimously a resolution opposing as "inadequate and unfitting the choice of a Memorial Church Plaque."

In a formal statement of its position, the Grad Council--student council of the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences--asserted that "Memorial Hall, the Harvard Union, and Memorial Church are individual memorials, and it seems appropriate that if a plaque is to be erected, it be placed in its own building ..."

The Council added that it would approve the erection of a Student Activities Center for this purpose. Opinion was not unanimous, however, behind members of the Council favoring only scholarships for this purpose.
