After a one-term warm-up of informal activity, the Society for Industrial Democracy set up shop on a regular basis Tuesday night, with final approval of a constitution and the election of Thomas R. Brooks '50 as president.

Stressing the fact that the Society is "not an action group, but an educational and discussion group," Brooks yesterday announced two study units for the term. Topic for one will be "The Economics of Socialism," while the other will concern itself with an analysis of the book, "The Acquisitive Society."

Negotiations are in progress for a lecture by author James T. Farrell sometime this spring. Last term the group heard David Lewis, executive secretary of the Cooperative Commonwealth Federation of Canada.

Other elections Tuesday night were Edward B. Hamlin '48 as secretary, Irving P. Phillips '50 as treasurer, and Walter H. Morse '48 and Mark W. Leiserson '48 as members-at-large of the executive committee.
