Salzburg Plan Finds Backing At Princeton

Eight of the nation's leading educators officially joined the sponsors of the Student Council International Affairs Committee's Salzburg Seminar project over the weekend, while many of their colleagues expressed complete approval of the idea.

Their move followed a plea for "concrete action to alleviate the present educational crisis in Europe" delivered by Clemens Heller 2G at a Princeton Bicentennial conference Friday morning. A recommendation of the Salzburg plan by Cornelius Kruse representing the Friends Service Committee, complemented Heller's request.

Only student delegate to the conference, Heller has taken a prominent part in the organization of the student-initiated plan to hold a two-month seminar in Austria on American Civilization. Members of the Harvard faculty had previously endorsed the project and volunteered their services.

Response Favorable

According to Robert Ulich, professor of Education, who was present at the Princeton Conference, Heller's appeal for support of the "operational level" of aid to foreign universities received "extremely favorable" response.

Among those who joined the sponsoring committee at Princeton were Waldo Leland of the American Council of Learned Societies Ben M. Cherrington of the University of Denver, Bryn, J. Hovde, President of the New School for Social Research, Vassar College Dean Mildred C. Thompson, and Alexander Meiklejohn of St. John's College.
