Upset Unseats Bunny Five, 35-30; Leverett Wins Wrestling Title

With Lowell cheering from the sidelines, hard-driving Dunster dumped the Leverett quintet into the runnerup slot of the House Basketball Race last night, upsetting the Bunnies 35 to 30. Dunster unleashed some of the fastest, steadiest team play of the season in presenting Coach Saul Mariaschin with a farewell victory.

Six one-hand set shots of Joe Flynn provided the spark missing in the Funsters' recent games, and they held the lead throughout the game. George Okamura, whom Mariaschin calls "the best little ballplayer in the league," was on top of every Leverett play, while John Brunsman's control to the backboard set up fast breaks for the Dunster five. Norm Cameron paced the Bunnies with ten points.

Lowell, by virtue of a 39 to 35 win over Winthrop in the evening's opener, now leads the House league, but Leverett can throw the race into a playoff by checking Dudley in the one remaining game of the season next Wednesday.

The lineups: Dunster; rf, Flynn; lf, MacDonald; c, Brunsman; rg, Rosenberg; lg, Okamura, Leverett; rf, Warren; lf, Cameron; c, Butler; rg, Eder; lg, Thorne.

Lowell; rf, Haskell; lf, Donahoe; c, Post; rg, Coulson; lg, Bresnahan. Winthrop; rf, Wade; lf, Free; c, Stevens; rg, Powell; lg, Nunan.

Yesterday's wrestling finals gave the House Tournament to Leverett, as Carl Stork, Hank Payson, and Jack Chilcott of the Bunnies won in the three top classes.
