Latest Reports Show Student Plight Abroad W.S.S.F. Pledges Distribution Aid to University Food Group

Relief to be Divided According to Need In Four Countries

By Wilmer J. Kitchen and Executive Secretary

World Student Service Fund is pleased to place at the service of the Harvard Food Relief Committee facilities for the distribution of relief to China, Austria, Greece and Poland.

Sponsored by Pax Romana (Catholic), World's Student Christian Federation (Protestant), International Student Service (cultural), and International Union of Students (inclusive), W.S.S.F. representatives distribute relief on a humanitarian basis, according to need, and without discrimination with regard to nation, race, religion or political conviction. This we believe contributes most to the building of One World.

Channeled Through Geneva

All distributions are made under the personal supervision of representatives of World Student Relief and are channeled through the W.S.R. Geneva Office. In the four countries chosen by your committee, the staff representatives are; K. Z. Li, Shangai; Howard Reed, Athens; Phyllis Farley, Warsaw; and M. Andrey, Vienna.

Always prepared to report to you about need, and the relief measures that your contributions make possible, these persons are eager to establish personal contacts between students and members of the faculty by means of correspondence of travel when possible.

A National Relief Committee cooperates with the World Student Relief delegates in each country. The personnel of each committee is chosen with a view to assuring competent judgement and equitable distribution free from political bias or governmental influence.

In the last eight years, W.S.S.F. has distributed to needy students abroad over one-million dollars worth of food, books and clothing and haw moved it through relief committees in Finland, Poland, Denmark, Norway, Holland, and France to name only a few.

We are gratified that the Harvard Food Relief Committee has chosen to transmit Harvard's contribution through World Student Service Fund. We command you for the generous goal of $25,000 that you have established. The needs of 400,000 university students in war-devastated areas amply justify your efforts.
